Sometimes, it’s easy to forget to enjoy the moment because you’re stuck worrying about the future. Or obsessing over the past.

It can lead to feelings of anxiety, sadness, and anger — not exactly conducive to being happy!

If you want to be happier in the present moment, here are six simple ways you can change your mindset. And make yourself more content in the next 10 minutes

1) Smile

Smiling is an ideal way to change your mood quickly.

When you smile, you trick your brain into thinking you’re happy. And when your brain thinks you’re happy, you actually feel happier.

So next time you’re feeling down, try smiling!

2) Think about your favorite person

What qualities stand out to you when you think about your favorite person?

Chances are, they are kind, caring, and make you feel good about yourself.

Spend a few minutes thinking about why this person is your favorite. And what they do that positively affects you.

Then, try to incorporate some of those qualities into your own life.

3) Listen to uplifting music

Listening to music can be a quick and effective way to change your mood.

If you’re feeling down, try listening to some upbeat, happy music. Studies show that dopamine levels increase when people listen to uplifting music. A neurotransmitter associated with happiness.

So crank up the tunes and see if it makes you feel any better!

4) Count Your Blessings

Gratitude is scientifically proven to increase happiness. So take a quick minute to write down three things for which you’re thankful.

You could even do this as part of your daily routine first thing in the morning.

5) Express Gratitude Toward Someone
